On Saturday, June 12, 2010 at noon the official opening of the Jim Miller Memorial will take place. The newly erected pavilion is located at the top of Finn Hill.
While the following is not an official Sault Cycling Club event, we encourage participation of club members.
Following the ceremony, there will be a social Memorial Bicycle Ride, coordinated by Andre Riopel. The Ride will take place along the Finn Hill portion of the Hub Trail and on to the West Korah Cemetery where Jim is buried. Please feel free to bring a flower to place at Jim's grave. The pace will be casual and anyone is welcome to attend. An optional ride to Gros Cap followed by a post ride stop at Boots and Saddles Bar and Grill will also take place.
Jim was the founding member and chair of the Sault Trail Action Committee as well as a long time director of the Sault Cycling Club. Jim was instrumental in the creation of the HUB trail and will be remembered for his humour, as a first class gentleman, visionary, leader and, as he often said, his "ability to herd cats." Jim died two years ago while on a hiking trip in Lake Superior Provincial Park.
Please consider attending this memorial ride and feel free to wear your Sault Cycling Club Jerseys in memory of Jim's long standing history with the Sault Cycling Club. If you have questions about this Memorial, please contact Andre Riopel at ariopel@shaw.ca.
